Coloring?

Thu Mar 5, 2009, 6:43 PM
So, I really want to get back into coloring stuff. Like..I can flat color things in Photoshop but I never really took the time and had the patience to find a really good shading tutorial. I am kind of leaning towards coloring things with markers/color pencils. Any recommendations? I don't know where to get the Primacolors or afford them either ^^''

I've never really coloured with markers myself, but I know there are some excellent tutorials on DA. You'll find some brilliant ones by browsing the tutorials section of the resources, and some of them might be able to recommend which markers to get.

I'm open to photoshop tutorials for coloring and shading too if there's a simple and recommended one you know of..

That all depends on what sort of shading and colouring you want to do. You could do something like this, or this. Or if you want something a bit more anime/cartoonish you could try this.

If you can't get Prismas (which are TOTALLY worth the cost, btw.), get a HUGE set of markers/pencils with a lot lot LOT of colors in them. Start with lighter shades when you color and build up to the shadows.

If you want to do something in photoshop, make sure you don't use burn or dodge. I learned this the hard way.
